Pixel Who?

This is supposed to be the page where I tell you who I am and why you should care about what I have to say. The answer to the first: My name online is Vi. It’s not my real name, but it’s the one I’m more comfortable going by. I’m not going for total anonymity, here, I’m just trying to protect myself should my boss go “Hmm, I think tonight would be a good night to google the names of my employees and see what comes up.”

I am an amature web design hack who is completely self-taught and spent a lot of time starting out in the teen blog and personal site scene, where design is valued over content. It’s dominated by girls who can get pretty catty with each other. It’s not unlike the “real” blogosphere, though, in that it’s who you’re linking to (and who links to you) that decides your importance. I met some fantastic ladies during that time, and I hope they’re all happy and well.

There is no reason you should care about what I have to say, other than my ability to string words together into coherent sentences most of the time. Let’s not beat around the bush here, people; I have a blog because I am a self-absorbed twentysomething who believes the world actually wants to hear what I have to say, just like the rest of my broadband-using brethren.

“Pixelslut” was chosen in self-jest; it’s a potshot at myself for signing up for every new free service I can find, whether they’ll benefit me or not.

It is a blog created specifically for the purpose of chronicling my online exploits and recording links, tools and resources I find along the way, along with whatever the hell else I feel like.

In other words, it’s where I geek out about freeware text editors and stuff. Deal.
